Top Manhattan Principal Darlene Miller Busted for DUI

Darlene Miller, principal of the NYC Museum School in Chelsea, is facing drunk driving charges after allegedly plowing her Hyundai into a stopped police cruiser.
The principal of the top-performing high school reportedly just missed hitting a cop, who had pulled over to stop another vehicle in Rockland County, says the New York Post.
After her arrest, Miller refused to submit to a
blood alcohol test and she now faces a court hearing on January 9.
The accident occurred earlier this month as the 64-year-old Miller drove northon Route 9W toward the Tappan Zee Bridge.
Despite refusing the blood alcohol test, the arresting officer says that Miller smelled of alcohol and had
impaired speech and coordination.
The principal also admitted to drinking before she drove the car, though she did not specify how much, reports the Post.
As her trial nears, Miller faces possible fines and jail time which a NYC DUI attorney can help her fight.
However, even the best DUI attorney may not be able to help Miller avoid a license suspension.
That's because under New York's implied consent laws, someone who refuses to take a blood alcohol test after a DUI stop faces an automatic license suspension, regardless of whether she is ultimately convicted of driving drunk.
So even if Miller beats the DUI charge, the fact that she refused a Breathalyzer test means that she will face penalties.
Darlene Miller is known for being a strict principal at the NYC Museum School.
Perhaps she needed a drink to take the edge off. Now the principal has learned a harsh lesson about drinking and driving and New York's implied
consent laws.
